Tecware Exo Elite RGB Lightweight Gaming Mouse Review

A Closer Look & Performance

It’s a classic gaming mouse shape, following the original Intellimouse shape that’s been seen in everything from Logitech to Razer, Cooler Master to SteelSeries. My point being, the shape and size should be familiar to just about any PC user, and that’s a good thing.

It looks utterly fantastic in this matte white finish too, it has a powered coated look to it and it has a little bit of texture too that feels very pleasant in your hand. Of course, the key factor here is that half the mouse is missing! The hexagonal cut-outs obviously help Tecware shed a lot of material from the mouse, reducing the weight fairly significantly. However, because of the shape, it retains the strength too. Amazingly, there’s less flex in a panel like this than there is in many flat plastic ones. I’ve pressed on this pretty hard from the top and sides, and it’s certainly going to withstand a heavy-handed gamer like myself.

As I said before, the ergonomics are fairly classic overall. There’s a slight indentation on the left and right side, and it tucks under a little. The end result is a mouse that’s extremely easy to hold with any grip style. The shape means you can pick the mouse up easily too, which is good for those using a low DPI lift-off tracking technique.

The LMB and RMB come mounted on their own panels, so there’s no crosstalk between the body of the mouse or each switch. This gives them a much more positive and responsive feel, which you would expect from a mouse designed for competitive gaming. The mouse uses Huano 20M switches, which are actually really nice. They have a fairly unique feel to them compared to Kailh or Omron too, needing a little more force, but paying off with a very satisfying click and return. It feels mechanical and precise, but you can still give it a good rapid fire too, so it scores well from me.

There’s a large and low mouse wheel which is both light and fast. However, the “bump” is clearly defined, allowing for accurate weapon swaps. CS:GO gamers will no doubt like the responsive click on the wheel too, even if I suck at that game so bad myself. Tucked behind the wheel, there’s a profile switch, which offers up a quick change of the DPI levels. All that can be customised in the software though.

The mouse features one of the finest sensors on the market today, so when it comes to tracking, you really have NOTHING to worry about. The PixArt 3389 is pixel perfect from 400 all the way up to 16,000 DPI and it has virtually no jitter, no angle snapping, or acceleration issues. It’s awesome.

What’s neat is that you can adjust the DPI and liftoff from the button on the bottom too, meaning you don’t always need software to make important changes.

As for everything else, I really can’t fault the mouse. It’s stunning even with the RGB turned off. However, plug it in, and the light show really is pretty spectacular. It’s very reflective on the mouse mat, as it’s a new surface and still has that new sheen to it.

While I have seen the black version, and it does look stunning, I think the white is the model I would get. It’s a nice change of pace from the more common black hardware that crosses my desk and it makes the RGB feel so much more colourful too.

The great ergonomics, the lightweight design, the overall durability, and the fantastic sensor are what I really love about this mouse. However, it is pretty stylish too, and while that’s not important to me, it’s still a welcome factor.

In short though, the Model O has another very serious competitor.
