At the time of this review, the TerraMaster D2 Thunderbolt 3 is available for $249.99 in the US and £229.99 in the UK.
One of the real joys of DAS is the ease of setup. There are no software configurations needed, at least not when it’s all hardware-based as in the TerraMaster D2 Thunderbolt 3. Turn a wheel and hit the reset button to set a mode, wait a little for the device to initialise it, and you’re good to go. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.
With Thunderbolt 3 available, the D2 has plenty of speed to offer. The only limit will be the performance of the installed drives. But Thunderbolt 3 offers a lot more than just speed. The ability to daisy chain several devices to the same port can help with a much nicer setup. Not to mention port-limited devices such as the MacBooks. TerraMaster went one further and also added a DisplayPort 1.2 to the device. Thunderbolt 3 supports up to 5K displays, making it perfect. Attach a large screen and a lot of storage to your portable system with a single cable.
We design is the one we know from TerraMaster. And why change something that works? The aluminium shell looks great and helps with the overall cooling. On top of that, there’s also a temperature controlled fan in the unit to help with the heat.
“With the TerraMaster D2 Thunderbolt 3, you can connect a lot of storage as well a display area with a single cable.”
Thank You, TerraMaster, for this sample.
