Thailand Also Moves to Ban ‘Fight of The Gods’ Fighting Game

Following Malaysia’s lead in banning the ‘Fight of Gods’, Thailand also reached out to the game’s publisher to ask the game be taken off Steam. According to Rice Digital, Thailand formally reached out to PQube Digital. This is a lot more civil than Malaysia’s move which banned the game after issuing a 48-hour window to Steam. Malaysia also did not contact the publisher directly, unlike Thailand.

Thailand is predominantly Buddhist, having 93.6 percent of their population observing its belief system. There is also close integration between Buddhism and Thai culture, so the move does not come as a surprise. Buddha himself is one of the playable characters in game, along with Jesus, Moses, Anubis and more.

‘Fight of The Gods’ Early Access on Steam

So far, only Thailand and Malaysia are the only two countries who take offense to the game and have requested its removal from their region. Since the game is an Early Access Steam title, some parts still appear rough around the edges. However, for only $7.99, USD it delivers well enough in value. The request for removal actually helped with increasing the game’s profile online. Whereas it would have probably languished in obscurity like many indie titles if not for the “controversy”.
