The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Team Isn’t Tempted to Grow for Future Games
Sandfall Interactive, the studio behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has no plans to expand in size, even after the worldwide success of its first game, which won the Game of the Year 2025 at The Game Awards and set a new record for the number of awards received.
According to game director and studio founder Guillaume Broche, who spoke with Edge magazine, Sandfall Interactive is not planning a larger production for its next project. When asked if the studio’s next title would be a bigger one, Broche replied, “No, I think it’s good to have limitations when you are creative.” He added that this approach is “the best way to be the best version of yourself.”
No Plans for Expansion
Broche explained that, although the studio now has more money and resources, growth is “not tempting for us.” Expanding the team would affect everyone on many levels, and that’s not something they want right now.
He continued, saying that the team behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 enjoys making games more than managing them, and they want to keep working hands-on with their projects. “These past five years were some of the best of my life, and I want to be happy like that again,” Broche concluded.
At the moment, nothing is known about Sandfall Interactive’s next project. We’ll find out more when it’s officially announced. Considering that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released in 2025 after about five years of development, we can expect it might take some time before the next game is ready.
