The clock speed record once again broken with AMD’s Bulldozer

While we did see an impressive record for the highest overclocking some time ago with AMD’s Bulldozer, the famous overclocker Andre Yang has already broken the record.

Even though the Bulldozer, more precisely the AMD FX-8150, is rather disappointing on certain points, it seems to perform rather well in overclocking, as Andre Yang first broke the previous record with what we could call a warm-up, reaching 8.46 GHz, a mere 30 MHz faster than the previous.

With everything done under liquid nitrogen, unlike AMD’s team who had to use liquid helium, which is colder by only 16 degrees Celsius, Andre was able to reach 8.5848 GHz on the second run, outperforming AMD’s team by 123.3 MHz.

Using the Crosshair V Formula for the achievement, from the “warm-up” to the real deal, Andre had to give a little push to the 1.992V used for the first run to get to the  voltage of 2.076V which made the record breaking capable.

While this was reached using only liquid nitrogen, and not liquid helium, there may be more power that can be drawn from the two of them to break even higher records… 9 GHz anyone?
