The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Does Not Support Official Mods, But There’s a Clarification
Mods have always been an important part of Bethesda games, so the fact that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered doesn’t support official mods is a big topic. However, there is a clarification to make.
The issue is clearly explained in Bethesda’s official FAQ. It says that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered “does not support mods,” but this only refers to official mods. These are mods created with a special toolkit and managed within the game through an official system for creating and sharing mods.
The remastered version uses a different technology base, mixing Unreal Engine 5 for graphics while keeping the old Gamebryo engine for the game’s logic. This makes it clear that mods from the original version are not compatible with the remastered one, at least in their current form.
Not a Complete Ban on Mods

While it is clear that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered does not support official mods, there are some distinctions to consider.
This limitation is only temporary, and it could change in the future. There is no restriction on creating new mods for the remastered version. In fact, the community on Reddit has already pointed out that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is perfectly moddable just like the original version.
Interestingly, the 2006 Creation Kit for the original Oblivion can be used with the remaster. This means it’s just a matter of time before new mods are created for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, or possibly even conversions of older mods for the new version, at least on PC.
