The Remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Might Release Next Week
According to journalist Jeff Grubb, the remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, developed using Unreal Engine 5, could be released next week, around April 21. Grubb mentioned the “week of April 21,” not a specific date, meaning it could be launched anytime between April 21 and April 25.
Surprise Launch Expected
There has been no official confirmation from Bethesda or Microsoft about the release. Since it’s supposed to be a surprise launch, it would be unwise for them to give any hints or details.
Grubb, who has correctly reported several stories in the past, is not speaking about this remake for the first time. Previous reports have hinted that Oblivion’s remake might launch at any point during April. From what we know so far, this remake will be the first time the Elder Scrolls series uses Unreal Engine 5. Some believe that this project aims to smoothly transition the Elder Scrolls series to Epic Games’ engine.
Double Engine System Rumored
Although the new engine is Unreal Engine 5, it’s expected that Bethesda’s original Gamebryo engine will still be used for certain aspects, like physics simulation. Rumors suggest that the remake of Oblivion will use a dual engine system.
At the moment, there is no official announcement, and we haven’t seen any gameplay or other details. For now, we’ll have to wait to find out whether this project is real and what its full scope might be.
