The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update Confirmed for Later This Year!

While CD Projekt Red might still be fighting the PR disaster that was Cyberpunk 2077, largely because it was, and still is in many respects, a pretty buggy and unfinished experience), it shouldn’t be ignored that last year they confirmed that a next-gen update of the still highly-amazing ‘The Witcher 3‘ was in development. Better still, for owners of the original version (or at least those of you who have it on PC) the upgrade would be provided for free!

Well, in providing a huge update in regards to this, CD Projekt Red’s PR Manager ‘Radak (@gamebowski)’ has posted on Twitter confirming that The Witcher 3’s next-gen update is scheduled for release later this year!

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update!

Offered enhanced graphics for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, The Witcher 3’s next-gen update is undoubtedly headlined by the fact that it will introduce real-time ray tracing light effects. Something that should, all going well, make the still beautiful original version of the game even more of a joy to behold!

As such, even for those who played the bejesus out of this title, the next-gen update will undoubtedly be more than enough to tempt you back into giving this game a well-deserved modern reprise (and probably another 300 hours!).

When Is It Out?

Stating H2 2021, for those of you unfamiliar with the terminology, this refers to the 2nd half of the year. As such, although a specific release date has yet been confirmed (which is probably wise given CD Projekt Red’s aforementioned difficulties with Cyberpunk 2077) we can, with the Sword of Damocles delay always hanging over it, expect The Witcher 3 to re-release (with a lot of graphical enhancements) at some point between July and December this year.

Yes, it’s vague, but even based on my recent experiences with this developer, I’m still very much hyped for this!
