The Witcher 3 Remastered Will Let Players Transfer Saves, Trophies and Achievements
CD Projekt RED has confirmed that moving from the current version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to the new Remastered version, arriving in a few weeks, will allow players to use their old save files and continue Geralt’s adventure exactly from where they left off.
In the same way, the upgrade will allow players to keep Trophies on PS5, Achievements on Xbox and Achievements on Steam that were already unlocked, avoiding the need to start their progress again.
The Witcher 3 Remastered Won’t Make Players Start Over
The confirmation came through a message published on X by the official CD Projekt RED account:
We’ve seen your questions about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered! Good news: your current saves will work with the upgrade, so you can get back on the Path right where you left off. Your unlocked achievements and trophies will carry over too!
In a second message, community director Marcin Momot explained that transferring save files is possible because the upgrade to the Remastered version is considered an update to the existing game, rather than a separate version. As a result, there will not be a separate list of Trophies or Achievements, and the current one will be kept.
The situation is different for skill points: because of the changes made to the progression system in the Remastered version, these will be reset and players will have to redistribute them as they wish.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will be available from September 29 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Those who already own the game will be able to upgrade for free.
