The Witcher 4 Is Already Playable on PC and Consoles
CD Projekt RED went through a particularly difficult time with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. After earning the full trust of players with The Witcher series, the Polish studio made a mistake with the sci-fi game’s day-one release, launching it with serious technical problems, especially on consoles.
The studio has clearly learned its lesson and, understandably, does not want to make the same mistake twice.
CD Projekt RED Learned Its Lesson After Cyberpunk 2077
Speaking with Game Developer, CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michal Nowakowski said that The Witcher 4 is already working and playable on all the main platforms planned for the action RPG, with development moving ahead at full speed.
“You come to the studio, you launch Witcher 4 right now. You can launch it on PC. You can launch it on PS5. You can launch it on Xbox Series X, and it’s going to run.”
Cyberpunk 2077 was developed first for PC and then scaled down for consoles. The studio had successfully used this strategy with The Witcher 3, but the size of Night City proved too much for the developers, who were unable to manage it properly on consoles, at least not in time for the day-one release.
