The Witcher 4 May Not Be Released on Disc on PlayStation, but CD Projekt Will Not Give Up on Physical Editions
The Witcher 4 is expected to arrive in stores in 2028, by which time Sony may have already stopped producing discs for PlayStation consoles. CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski commented on the situation, giving both good and bad news.
The bad news is that the studio cannot oppose Sony’s decision or release a disc version of the new chapter in the series on its own. The good news is that CD Projekt will not give up on physical editions, even without a disc, and will still bring a package with extras and collectible items to stores.

“We know what PlayStation has announced. And we have no influence on the policies of the first parties. The discs for the first parties, including PlayStation, have to be manufactured in their own factories. So, if they stop manufacturing indeed by 2028, then yes [we won’t have a disc],” Nowakowski told The Game Business.
“But we’re big fans of people having access to tangible collectible things. We’re nerds ourselves, and we like that. We always supported that. So, whatever is the case, we’re going to be for sure having a box. We’re going to have a box that’s going to have some feelies in it. Something you’re going to be wanting to open up and enjoy. But we have no influence actually on what’s the case here.”
There is no information, however, about possible physical editions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, the new version with many updates and improvements to graphics and gameplay arriving on September 29. It could, in fact, become the last chapter in the series to arrive on physical media for PlayStation consoles.
