Thermaltake ARGENT M5 RGB Gaming Mouse & MB1 Bungee Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Honestly, I’m completely shocked by this mouse’s price because it’s only £65 on Amazon. While that’s hardly bargain-bin pricing, it’s incredibly competitive for this mouse’s quality, performance, and the level of hardware it features. Not only that, but it really makes the wireless model look horrendously overpriced. The wireless model is £116 on Amazon, and that’s quite a long way from £65.

You can find the Argent MB1 RGB here for £29.99.

Overview

Despite the higher price, I must admit I did love the ARGENT M5 Wireless. I really can’t knock its style or performance; it’s one of the best wireless mice I’ve used. However, in every measurable way, beyond being wireless cable, the wired model is better.

The sensor is a little bit better, capable of tracking at 500 IPS and 50G vs 400 IPS and 40G; albeit few will notice the difference if I’m honest. It has a response time that’s fractions of a millisecond faster, not much, but hey, it still counts. There’s more RGB on this model too, with the underlighting offering you more customisation vs the wireless model. It’s also lighter, has no battery life to concern with, and is a heck of a lot cheaper.

When it comes to gaming, it’s pretty fantastic to use. It’s light, glides really well, and the sensor is absolutely stunning. Albeit, I can’t recall the last time I tested a modern sensor and wasn’t impressed; bad sensors are rare these days!

The Omron switches are light and fast, and having two sets of side buttons means you can mix between left or right-handed use easily. However, even if you choose a single side, having the extra buttons for macros, extra attacks, or even just to trigger some editing tools in Adobe… you have plenty of options here!

The software works well, but since the mouse can store all its settings on-board, you don’t need it loaded all the time, and when we’re out of lockdown, you could even take the mouse to a friends house, and your macros go with you, yay!

Should I Buy One?

At nearly half the price of the wireless model, the ARGENT M5 is a no-brainer. The wireless model is a fantastic mouse, it really is, but this wired model is much cheaper, lighter, has a better sensor and even more RGB, so I love it even more! Highly recommended, snap one up before it’s out of stock or they put the price up!
