Thermaltake CT120 ARGB Sync PC Fan Review

Design

As I said before, there are four versions of this fan available, white with or without ARGB and black with or without ARGB. I have the two ARGB-equipped versions which have frosted blades to allow them to be illuminated. However, I’ve included two stock images of the non-RGB versions above, and as you can see, they have fan blades made in black or white plastic to match the frame design. Actually, I like the look of the non-RGB ones too, but overall, I think they all look pretty great.

One important aspect of these fans is that they’re the latest fans you’ll find in all the new Thermaltake PC cases, such as the rather fantastic Ceres 500 we reviewed recently. This way, if you want to add them to your own build, or simply have matching fans to expand on the stock configuration of a Thermaltake case, you can now more easily do just that.

As Thermaltake say “less cable, more friendly” is the key here. The new cable-integrated daisy-chain design now means you can have fewer headers going to your motherboard or hub. However, it also means you’re reducing the amount of excess cable required as the daisy cable only has to go from one fan to the next, not all the way to your motherboard. However, should you need to put these far away from the motherboard or a hub header, there are two 900mm PWM and two 900mm ARGB cable extensions included to get the job done.

There are 9 fully addressable LEDs in each fan, with all the LEDs located around the motor in the middle of the fan itself. The frosted blades of the fans mean the light will radiate outwards from the middle.

Another nice little design touch is these 5V ARGB Connector Clips. I never understood why ARGB headers make such a weak connection, it’s a lousy design. Alas, these little clips will keep those little buggers in place.
