Thermaltake Level 10 GT Full Tower Chassis Review

Final ThoughtsThermaltake are a Marmite type company; you either love them or you hate them. I personally like the idea behind their products, and believe that the majority of them work for the mass market. Trying to remain impartial in terms of the Level 10, I honestly think they having something good going on.

The styling is very much similar to the original which I personally loved. It still captures the essence of the unique styling but on a slightly scaled down version, which is nice as it means the GT is a bit more compact and not so cumbersome.

I’m a bit upset that the materials for the GT have changed quite dramatically, and a lot of plastic and mesh has been used instead of the smooth, sleek metal we saw before, but you can’t have that and expect it to weigh half the amount.

Feature wise, the case has it all in terms of eSATA, USB 3.0, plenty of USB 2.0 ports, a plug&play fan, locking mechanism for the motherboard compartment and storage racks, you simply couldn’t ask for more.

The large fans that are in the case will certainly be favoured by a lot of users due to their low spin-rate which in turn outputs a good amount of airflow with very little noise.

Cable management was a painless task, involving very little time to get things organized and a great result at the end of it. This is mainly down to the space provided around the motherboard and the mass amount of rubber grommets for passing cables through.

The bottom line is that whilst the Level 10 GT does still include the essence of the original Level 10, with some new functionality, it doesn’t have the upmarket feel that the Level 10 had, but taking into consideration the price of £202.32 at Scan and $254.99 at Newegg it’s a damn sight cheaper than the bulky, cumbersome Level 10 that we first fell in love with.

Pros:

  • USB 3.0
  • eSATA
  • Huge fans provide good airflow
  • Removable dust filters
  • Has a unique design
  • Stylish
  • Easy cable management
  • Solid build quality
  • Lighter than the original

Cons:

  • Some may consider it tacky looking compared to the original
  • Loses that upmarket feel of the Level 10
