Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

Given that this is a 500w power supply, this should be more than competent for your average PC or even gaming PC. Despite that though, 500w is usually the lower limit. As such, at times you might need to push it a little harder than the wattage on the box. In this regard though, the Thermaltake Smart RGB 500w is not found wanting.

Achieving around 30% higher than the rated amount is clearly a good achievement. While you are probably not going to want to push this harder than 550w at most, you do at least have a decent margin of wiggle room.
