Under standard operation, the Thermaltake Toughpower PF1 provided a very consistent fan speed with it only seemingly increasing when at 100% load. This PSU does, however, have an ace up its sleeve if you value ultra-quiet performance. Through the ‘smart’ hybrid function, up until around 50% load, the power supply doesn’t seem it necessary for the fan to operate at all.
Admittedly, beyond this point, the fan speed is generally consistent with that seen with the hybrid function turned off, but by and large, particularly in idle, your PC should only require the PSU fan to operate when you’re doing something notably task worthy (such as gaming or video rendering).
