Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 550W Power Supply Review

Fan Speed

Given that this power supply does come with a comparatively tiny 92mm fan, a key factor of interest to us was seeing exactly how well that would perform. Well, if you were perhaps suspecting that noise was going to be the Achilles heel here, you are mistaken. Although no hybrid fan function is available manually, it does appear that Thermaltake has integrated this into the design as standard.

Below 50% output, the fan didn’t run at all because clearly, the power supply didn’t deem it necessary. After this point though, with it hitting a maximum speed of just below 500RPM, this is amazingly quiet at doing its job and, overall, this caps off what has been an exceptionally impressive set of test results.
