Thermaltake ToughPower TF1 1550W Power Supply Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Based on the high-efficiency rating and huge wattage output, you probably think that this is quite an expensive power supply. And you’d be right! – Although retail figures do vary a little, on the whole, consumers can expect to pay something in the region of £450 for the Thermaltake Toughpower TF1 1550w.

Now, admittedly, this is rather a lot of money. Remember again though, that this has not been designed for the average consumer. Thermaltake already has plenty of fantastic power supply solutions available for that market. The Toughpower TF1 1550w has been very specifically designed to cater directly towards the HEDT/overclocking consumer, and, based on its amazing features. This is about what consumers looking to get into that area should be expecting to pay to a product of this ‘premium’ level.

Performance

The Thermaltake Toughpower TF1 1550w certainly took our load tester to the limits and perhaps a little beyond them, but despite our hardware occasionally failing to keep up with this insanely potent PSU, the results we got clearly speak for themselves. This is, without any shadow of a doubt, a premium-level power supply. Strong efficiency performance, excellent voltage regulation, and low ripple noise are undoubtedly the key highlights seen and, quite frankly, based on the overall quality of the design and components used, such exceptionally good results do not surprise us in the least.

Practicality & Functionality

Although specifically designed for the overclocking market, there isn’t any notable reason I can see why the Toughpower TF1 1550w couldn’t be used in either an entry-level or extreme gaming PC. It’s an exceptionally practical design and quite surprisingly compact given how much power this delivers. Admittedly though, this is definitely a product that would be best suited in the hands of an overclocker, but with its fully modular design, as well as the generous length and quantity of cables on offer, cable management will not provide any issue here.

In terms of functionality and practicality, the Thermaltake Toughpower TF1 1550w is faultless!

Should I Buy One?

The Thermaltake Toughpower TF1 1550w isn’t a power supply that’s going to be suitable for everyone. For those looking for an excellent power base for their overclocking effects, however, it’s hard to think of anything currently available on the market that’s better or more competitively priced than this! – It’s an extreme design, but one that still manages to pack in absolutely masses of top-spec premium features.

So, if you take your overclocking seriously and aren’t considering this as a fantastic power supply, then perhaps you need to rethink your hobbies because the Thermaltake Toughpower TF1 1550w represents a fantastic foundation that will undoubtedly be a major part of many new records being set in the future!
