Thermaltake Urban S31 Chassis Review

With the side panel removed you can see that Thermaltake have given the interior of the chassis the same powered black paint job at the exterior, this gives a nice uniform look and is only helped further by the fully black fittings and screws, all of which should look great once we complete our build, especially since we have a large window panel to peek through. The motherboard stand-offs are pre-installed and there is also a large CPU cooler cut-out, both should speed up the overall build time.

The front of the chassis features 3 x 5.25″ bays with quick release mechanism, then 6 HDD trays in a 3+3 two bay layout.

The middle bay is easily removed thanks to two quick release thumb screws, allowing plenty of extra room for cooling or extra long graphics cards should no need it. Each of the trays in the HDD bays support 3.5″ and 2.5″ drives.

In the back of the chassis we can see the rear 120mm exhaust fan, which comes with a black braided cable that should keep the final build looking neat and tidy. The expansion slot covers are re-usable and each features ventilation.

The top of the chassis features a range of mounts for 2 x 120mm, 2 x 140mm fans or a dual water cooling radiator.

The bottom of the chassis features four raisers for the PSU, this provides a little extra clearance from the bottom air intake, while the right side features room to mount an extra 120mm fan.

There’s a good amount of cable management space behind the motherboard, but this is extended thanks to the recess side panel. There are 8 cable tie loops, three cable management cut outs and a small cut out at the top for the 4/8pin 12v cable.
