Thrustmaster T.Racing Scuderia Ferrari Edition-DTS Gaming Headset Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Thrustmaster T.Racing Scuderia Ferrari Edition-DTS is available right now from Thrustmaster themselves, as well as a range of big-name retailers. It’s priced at just £89.99, which is competitive for the level of features on offer, and pretty reasonable considering the cost of the Ferrari licence has to be addressed by Thrustmaster.

Overview

This headset is pretty fantastic, it’s not something I would have considered for myself, but now that I’ve had it in my hands for a few days, it has grown on me a little. It may also have something to do with the black and red mouse mat, wall foam noise isolation tiles, desktop wall paper, and red LED hardware I have dotted around my setup here. The Ferrari theme just fits in well with what I have.

It’s also a cool looking headset. Albeit, it may be a bit much for some, and I actually think in some ways it’s a big ugly too. However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t still cool! It’s a Ferarri racing team headset, cool comes as standard.

Quality

The build quality is pretty decent, and certainly on-par for a sub £100 headset. The plastics are of excellent quality, and there’s metal reinforcement everywhere you would expect it. The cables all feel durable, although a fully detachable cable configuration would have been preferred. I do like that the microphone is fully removable though, and they provide a cover for the hold that would otherwise remain; attention to little details goes a long way.

My favourite parts, however, as the incredibly thick padding on this headset. It’s exceptionally comfortable despite also having a very secure and snug fit. That’s helped further by the locking headband adjustment design, which I’ve never seen on a headset before.

Should I Buy One?

For those who play a lot of racing sims and love Ferrari stuff, it’s a bit of a no brainer, as it would look fantastic as part of a sim setup. Especially give many of the best racing wheels out there are Thrustmaster and they have Ferarri setups for that too. However, for your typical gamer, it’s still a great looking, sounding and feeling headset. If you want something that’s different, this design is a welcome break from the black/grey RGB hardware that currently dominates.
