TP-Link Opens Pre-Orders for the Archer 8 Ultra Wi-Fi 8 Router
TP-Link has officially announced the availability of its very first Wi-Fi 8 router, the Archer 8 Ultra. While previous wireless generations relentlessly chased peak speeds, Wi-Fi 8 is squarely aimed at consistency, ensuring stable performance in the demanding environments users deal with every day.
“Wi-Fi 8 sets a new foundation, and we’ve built beyond it. Archer 8 Ultra combines our Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine with intelligent antenna technology and AI-powered optimization to deliver what matters most: a smarter, more reliable network that’s easier to use,” said Jim Poder, Senior Vice President of R&D at TP-Link.

TP-Link Archer 8 Ultra Leads the Wi-Fi 8 Charge
At the heart of the Archer 8 Ultra sits TP-Link’s new Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine, which prioritises real-world reliability without compromising on the high speeds consumers expect. The technology is designed to strengthen coverage, ease network congestion, and cut through interference using a variety of next-generation features.
- Available at launch: Features including UEQM, new MCS, and 2xLDPC keep throughput steady even in noisy homes. This results in up to 33% more consistent throughput at mid-to-long ranges and up to 24% more consistent throughput under interference compared to Wi-Fi 7. NPCA also keeps the network responsive as more devices connect.
- Rolling out via OTA updates: As the Wi-Fi 8 standard matures, DSO will expand capacity for multiple devices, while ELR and DRU will strengthen coverage at the far edges of the home. Furthermore, Co-TDMA, Co-SR, and Co-BF will coordinate performance in homes using more than one access point.
Peak Hardware for Steadfast Performance
Powered by a Broadcom Wi-Fi 8 chipset built on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard, the Archer 8 Ultra packs serious networking hardware. It delivers 19 gigabits of tri-band Wi-Fi 8 bandwidth, providing steadier performance and lower latency than Wi-Fi 7 at the exact same range. Wired connectivity is equally robust, featuring two 10 Gbps auto-sensing WAN/LAN ports for multi-gigabit internet plans, alongside four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports for rock-solid connections to demanding devices like PCs and games consoles. Inside the chassis, eighteen high-performance antennas provide up to 3,600 sq. ft. of coverage for as many as 200 devices. A new Multi-Floor Mode smartly reshapes the signal to match where devices actually are, steering coverage across floors or flattening it for single-level homes. A dedicated Wi-Fi 8 RF chip adds Range Boost, improving the router’s ability to communicate with distant, low-power devices.
“Wi-Fi 8 marks a fundamental shift toward reliability in home connectivity, and Broadcom’s platform is engineered to deliver that performance at scale. We’re excited to collaborate with innovative pioneers like TP-Link, which is among the first to deliver it to consumers,” commented Manny Patel, Vice President of Marketing, Wireless and Broadband Communications Division at Broadcom.

Where to Buy
Pre-orders for the TP-Link Archer 8 Ultra opened on 30 September 2026 across regions including the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and Canada. In the UK, the router is priced at £899.99, though it is currently available at a discounted pre-order price of £669.99. A global rollout for the Archer 8 Ultra, alongside the upcoming Deco 8 Ultra mesh system, is expected in the coming months. For pre-orders, check out the official TP-Link website. But at this price, I can’t see everyone leaping out to grab one in a hurry.
