Transcend Announces Industrial-Grade SSD430 Solid-State Drive

Transcend announced their newest solid state drive and this time it isn’t intended for the mainstream gamer. Instead, it’s built with industrial usage in mind and comes with the features needed in that area. The new Transcend SSD430 is built with 3D MLC NAND and can withstand industrial environments.

The product page and specifications aren’t online yet, so we only have the details given in the official press release so far. But it looks very promising as the SSD430 will be able to deliver sequential speeds of up to 560MB/s read and 490MB/s write. The random performance is given in MB/s too and here the drive can perform up to 310MB/s read and 350MB/s write.

Transcend’s SSD430 solid-state drive is equipped with a DDR3 DRAM cache and an SLC cache to boost read and write speeds. Feature wise, the drive has a complete solution with low-density parity check error correction code (LDPC ECC), Device Sleep mode, Power Shield, Intelligent Block Management, and Global Wear Leveling, making it an excellent choice for industrial needs. It is manufactured for a long-term, stable operation for various types of data and application, and is suited for industrial PCs, automated machinery, and fanless industrial systems.

The use of 3D MLC NAND chips brings a lot of advantages over planar NAND. We get a greater transfer efficiency, better performance, better reliability, and a lower power consumption. And who can argue against that?

Transcend’s SSD430 solid-state drive is available in 120GB and 240GB capacities and is covered by Transcend’s three-year limited warranty.
