Trump Pauses Tariffs for 90 Days, Except for China, Which Faces Increased Fees
President Donald Trump has announced a 90-day pause on tariffs, but there’s an important exception: China. In fact, the tariffs on China have been increased up to 125%, effective immediately. Trump stated that this decision is due to the disrespect China has shown towards the United States.
Through a post on Truth Social (thanks Engadget), Trump confirmed that the implementation of the feared tariffs has been delayed. This announcement led to a significant rise in stock markets, and some even started speculating about insider trading. However, the decision excludes China, where the tariff increase took effect immediately.
China Responds with Its Own Tariffs
In response, China has imposed tariffs of 84% on U.S. goods, continuing the trade war. At this point, it’s clear that the situation is escalating and both sides are ready to strike hard in this ongoing commercial battle.
While it’s difficult to predict the full impact of such intense trade conflicts, it’s clear that many technology products are made in China. This means the world of consumer electronics and video games might face troubling news, especially with potential price hikes.
Will the Nintendo Switch 2 Price Rise in the U.S.?
According to analysts, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is likely to become more expensive, and its sales could decrease due to these new tariffs. The pause announced by Trump might not significantly change this uncertain situation. If the new tariffs are ultimately applied, it’s unlikely that Nintendo will stick to the previously announced price.
It’s important to note that while the tariffs have been delayed, the new 10% tariff will still apply to all countries. This will inevitably lead to higher prices for certain products in the future.
