The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Surround Gaming Headset for Xbox One is available at most major retailers. You can pick one up at Amazon.co.uk for just £89.99. Of course, that’s not exactly cheap, but the headset isn’t exactly lacking in features either, so you do get what you pay for. It’s very competitive with other wireless gaming headsets, and the same prices as the PlayStation 4 model too.
It seems that Turtle Beach can do no wrong these last few years I think they still carry around a bit of a rough reputation from a fair few consumers, and I struggle to see why with each review. If you get a chance to try out their mid-range and high-end headsets, I’m sure you would agree with me, they sound bloody fantastic. The Stealth 600 sounds like a few other similarly priced headsets in the Turtle Beach range, which is no bad thing. Of course, it’s added value comes from the new connectivity, mobile control, and wireless features.
The drivers are punchy, and handle some abuse on the EQ without any issue. The max volume is a tiny bit low, but they always are on Turtle Beach. However, with the EQ controls, a slight boost seems to bring that bigger sound back should you need it, and not everyone will. The mobile app is a cool feature though, especially for those who don’t have a PC to tinker with the headsets configuration.
The surround sound processing is pretty epic too thanks to Windows Sonic. If you have games that support Dolby Atmos Headphone, it really gives a fantastic spacial sound, without loosing any of the punch. Five years ago, I turned my noise up at virtual processing, because it was simply crap, in 2017 and now 2018, they’ve bloody nailed it down.
When it comes to wireless, well, no complaints there and the range is phenomenal. The fact that you can now pair the headset with no need for a dongle is great. It means you can setup the headset and get gaming, without fiddling around for USB ports or optical cables, or hubs, or anything really. No dongle needed means you can’t eventually lose the dongle when you take the headset to a friends house either.
It’s the little details that add up for this headset. The Glasses Friendly design is a big plus for millions of potential customers, so that’s a big thumbs up. The dongle-free wireless is a big win too. However, it’s the general level of sound processing and flawless quality that nail it for me. Combine all that with a decent quality microphone and we really can’t fault what Turtle Beach has to offer.
