Two Walmart Shoppers Score RTX 5090 GPUs for Under $1,200 Each
Finding an RTX 5090 at its retail price is already a great deal, but getting one for $880 less is a bargain no one would pass up.

Take that, other guy!

Getting an RTX 5090 below its official price seems impossible in 2025, but two users have proven otherwise. Within less than a week, both managed to buy NVIDIA’s new GPU for well below the MSRP, and the most surprising part is that both purchases happened at the same retailer: Walmart.
A few days ago, a Reddit user named NestyHowk shared that he had purchased a GeForce RTX 5090 for $1,399, around $600 less than its regular price. But now another user, DCole1847, went even further—buying the same card for $1,119.99, which is about a 44% discount off the original value.
Why Were These RTX 5090s So Cheap?
Photos shared by both buyers show that the units came from Walmart and had the familiar yellow “reduced” tags, which the store uses for discounted products—often due to returns, damaged packaging, or minor imperfections. So, these weren’t official promotions or widespread sales, but rather isolated clearance opportunities that a few lucky people happened to find.
The discounted models appear to be the PNY GeForce RTX 5090 Overclocked Triple Fan (VCG509032TFXPB1-O), a non-RGB version that was originally launched for $1,999. Today, the same model sells for around $2,799 in U.S. stores, making these markdowns even more impressive.
While the odds of finding such a deal again are slim, these cases prove that it’s worth browsing the refurbished or clearance sections from time to time.
