Earlier this year, Ubisoft faced significant criticism after removing the original The Crew from digital libraries and taking it offline, making the game unplayable. To avoid similar backlash, Ubisoft has announced plans to introduce offline modes for The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest to ensure long-term access to these titles.

Stéphane Beley, senior creative director of The Crew franchise, addressed the situation, stating, “We want to acknowledge that some of you voiced concern about the access to The Crew games. Today, we want to express our commitment to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. We are currently exploring different solutions and can confirm an offline mode to ensure long-term access to both titles.”
There is currently no timeline for when the offline modes will become available, but fans hope to see an update before the end of the year. This move comes after The Crew, the original 2014 title, was delisted last year and taken offline in April 2023, rendering the game unplayable.
Ubisoft is also planning to expand The Crew Motorfest’s game world. On November 6, 2024, the map will increase in size by 50%, allowing players to explore the entire island of Maui for free. The addition will be seamless, allowing players to travel between islands by sea, air, or land without loading screens.
This update is part of Ubisoft’s ongoing effort to release new content and maintain engagement with its player base after receiving criticism.
