Ubisoft Censors Far Cry 4: Adds Bras and Modifies Character Details After 10 Years

Ubisoft Censors Far Cry 4: Adds Bras and Modifies Character Details After 10 Years

After ten years since the release of Far Cry 4, Ubisoft has mysteriously censored the game by giving bras to the arena girls and covering the genitals of the protagonist, Ajay Ghale. Players will now find that the female characters in the arena are no longer topless, and Ajay’s genitals, which were briefly visible in a single scene, are now covered by a cloth.

The reason for this decision remains unclear, as no official statements have been made regarding the update. This change has come as a surprise, especially considering the game’s age and the fact that two more Far Cry games have been released since Far Cry 4.

Is This Censorship Unnecessary?

The naked breasts of the arena girls were not included without purpose. They were meant to contribute to the atmosphere of the location, drawing inspiration from the depictions of women seen in the bas-reliefs on the walls of the area. Now, this is no longer the case, as the bras have been added.

Additionally, the genitals of Ajay Ghale were also covered with a cloth, which came out of nowhere. This detail, visible in just one scene, had not bothered anyone for ten years, and it’s unlikely that it would cause problems for players now.

What Could Have Prompted Ubisoft’s Decision?

The reason behind Ubisoft’s decision is still a mystery. Some early theories circulating online suggest that this change might be related to Ubisoft’s partnership with Tencent, as Tencent has been known for its censorship policies, influenced by Chinese media laws. However, this remains speculative, as no one has provided any official information, despite the substantial size of the update that introduced these changes.
