Ubisoft Confirms Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Won’t Appear at The Game Awards 2025
According to recent reports, the long-awaited remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time might finally be nearing release, with Ubisoft expected to launch the game in stores within a few weeks. Because of this, many fans believed the company would make a major announcement during the The Game Awards 2025, scheduled for December 12 — one of the biggest events in the gaming industry.
However, these expectations were quickly dismissed. The official Prince of Persia X (formerly Twitter) account denied the rumors, stating: “Sorry to disappoint, but can confirm Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time won’t be at TGA this year.”
Ubisoft Could Be Planning a Surprise Announcement
Last week, Insider Gaming published a report by Tom Henderson claiming that the remake is set to launch in mid-January next year. This report was repeated today in a new article. The same sources suggested that, given the short release window, Ubisoft might reveal the game during Geoff Keighley’s show.
Still, Ubisoft’s statement does not completely rule out the idea. Although Henderson’s report should be taken with caution, there remains the possibility of a reveal during another event — or, in a more surprising move, a shadow drop, meaning an immediate release following a sudden announcement.
Could a Shadow Drop Be Ubisoft’s Strategy?
If true, this would be an unusual choice for the French publisher. However, such a move could also help the game stand out, avoiding the crowded lineup of announcements expected during The Game Awards.
In short, while Ubisoft has denied the game’s presence at The Game Awards, fans may still get exciting news very soon — perhaps even sooner than they expect.
