Ubisoft Says Recent Assassin’s Creed Invictus Leak Is “Heavily Altered” and Misleading
After seeing Activision respond to rumors about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, Ubisoft also reacted to a supposed leak about Assassin’s Creed Invictus.
During the evening, a user posted on X (Twitter) a photo taken off-screen, showing what they claimed was a closed playtest of Assassin’s Creed Invictus. The image shows a character inside an arena, and the player’s nickname is repeated across the screen, which is something usually done during tests to prevent leaks.
Ubisoft Responds to Assassin’s Creed Leaks
The image clearly upset Ubisoft, and the company responded through the official Assassin’s Creed account with this message: “Nice try… This might have started as an image from our private test, but it’s been heavily altered (most probably with AI). Not great to spread misinformation. For those genuinely curious about the project: we’ll share more when the time is right!”
They also said that the leaked image was changed with AI, so it is not clear what parts of it are real.
Another leak from the same leaker claimed that the April playtest went very badly, describing it as “really f***ing awful” and even suggesting the game could be cancelled. Still, Ubisoft’s statement seems to suggest the opposite, since they said they will “share more when the time is right,” which implies the project is still in development.
