Ubisoft Shares Development Update on Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Invictus
Ubisoft has shared a new update on the development of Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Invictus, two projects that were announced some time ago but are still mostly surrounded by mystery. Jean Guesdon, the new Head of Content for the series, decided to speak about both titles and clarify their current status.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe Will Offer a Darker, Story-Driven Experience
Speaking about Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Guesdon said that even though not many details have been revealed yet, the game is being developed with great care by the veteran team at Ubisoft Montreal. He described Hexe as a unique experience, darker in tone and strongly focused on storytelling, set during a key moment in history.
Guesdon also explained that he recently took on the role of creative director for Hexe, in addition to his new responsibilities as Head of Content. He said the team is taking the time needed to bring their ambitious vision to life. Because of this, Ubisoft will remain quiet for a while longer, but they are happy to see the strong interest from fans and look forward to sharing more when the time is right.
According to Guesdon, Hexe is being carefully crafted by experienced developers. The focus is on delivering a more narrative-driven adventure with a darker atmosphere than previous entries. Ubisoft wants to ensure the game meets its creative goals before revealing more details to the public.
The company has made it clear that patience is important, and they prefer to show the game only when it is truly ready.
Assassin’s Creed Invictus Takes a New Multiplayer Approach
As for Assassin’s Creed Invictus, Guesdon explained that the project is moving forward with a “test and learn” approach. The game will be a multiplayer PvP experience, developed by a dedicated team of For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal.
He acknowledged that there is a lot of curiosity around Invictus. While it represents a new direction for multiplayer in the Assassin’s Creed series, it may not be exactly what some rumors suggested. Player feedback is central to the project, and Ubisoft is exploring ways to involve the community early in development.
In addition to Hexe and Invictus, Ubisoft has several other Assassin’s Creed projects in development at different stages, including Assassin’s Creed Jade. The company is also considering bringing back cooperative gameplay in future titles.
Although Ubisoft recently decided to cancel an early-stage project, Guesdon said that the lessons learned from it are already shaping the company’s future plans. The main goal, he explained, is to give each project the time it deserves and release it only when it is fully ready.
In other news, Assassin’s Creed Hexe is rumored for a 2027 release, with reports suggesting a possible return of Ezio as a mentor and improved animations.
