Even though Ubisoft’s been getting some heat over the last few years, it looks like the company is looking to straighten up, at least when it comes to monetizing and supporting its games. Moreover, with its imminent entry in the VR market, Ubisoft has just announced that all of its virtual reality games will support cross-platform play between headsets such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PSVR. This is definitely good news for gamers, as it would result in shorter waiting times on finding matches, not to mention that friends using different platforms will be able to group up and tackle the same content together.
The first game that will support this cross-platform feature will be Eagle Flight, which is expected to come out today. Other titles that will benefit from this system include Star Trek: Bridge Crew and Werewolves Within. Red Storm Entertainment senior creative director, David Votypka, had a few words to say about Ubisoft’s cross-platform VR system:
“Making our VR titles cross-platform has been a goal of ours from the start and we’re happy to announce that Eagle Flight, Werewolves Within, and Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be playable cross-platform on PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive. Our games feature strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned.”
