Pokemon GO is undoubtedly one of the most popular mobile games/apps right now, and even though there are plenty of people currently enjoying it on their iOS or Android-based devices, it looks like Windows Phone users might actually be able to catch some Pokemon as well, albeit unofficially. It’s easy to understand why the game never actually made it to the mobile version of the Windows Store, as there are simply not enough people currently using Microsoft’s devices. The store is generally in bad shape at the time of writing, with quite a few crucial apps performing poorly, mainly because they have not been updated in a long time.

Back to the topic at hand, Microsoft has stated that it is currently exploring several options that would bring Pokemon Go to its mobile phone users, but until then, users could actually try something called PoGo-UWP, which is an unofficial port of Pokemon Go for Microsoft’s mobile platform. It’s worth noting that the installation process is not exactly a walk in the park, and there’s always the chance of Nintendo blocking the port in the near future. Users have to jump through several hoops in order to get the port up and running, including creating a Pokemon Trainer account from an actual Android device or iPhone. Other steps involve enabling Windows’ Device Portal mode and sourcing three files, and even though the installation process itself could prove tiresome, it might be worth it for diehard Pokemon fans.

I wouldn’t really bother with it personally, but you can go ahead and visit this thread on Reddit if you actually want to give the port a try.
