Upcoming AMD Ryzen CPUs with Zen 6 Cores Will Feature Up to 288 MB of 3D V-Cache

It seems AMD is preparing to unveil new processors with Zen 5 cores during the next CES event. However, we also expect a preview of its next-generation Zen 6 architecture. Initially, these chips will appear in server CPUs, but later they’ll also reach consumer desktop processors.

One of the biggest updates in this new generation will be the extra cache memory that AMD includes in its processors for gaming. The upcoming line of chips featuring 3D V-Cache technology will offer even more cache than the current generation.

Higher Cache Capacities in Zen 6 Processors

According to hardware leaker HXL on X (formerly Twitter), the new Zen 6 processors will feature 144 MB of cache in single-CCD configurations, and up to 288 MB when using dual CCDs.

This design is similar to what we’ve seen with Zen 5, but AMD is expanding the 3D V-Cache to each CCD—a rumor that has circulated since the current generation.

This increase in cache is expected to provide better gaming performance, especially for CPU-intensive titles, as more data can be stored closer to the processor cores.

The additional cache for gaming not only boosts performance in high-end PCs but could also enable a new class of home servers. Zen 6 cores will include native support for AVX-512 instructions, allowing for more efficient 16-bit calculations—features often used in AI-related tasks and data-heavy computations.

This trend mirrors Intel’s approach with its upcoming Nova Lake CPUs, which will include a new bLLC (Last Level Cache) technology capable of delivering up to 288 MB of cache in dual-tile configurations.
