US PC Maker Paradox Customs Begins Selling Prebuilt PCs Without RAM
The increase in memory prices is causing major changes in the computer industry. Prices have reached three to four times their value from just a few weeks ago, with high-capacity memory kits now costing more than some graphics cards. To handle this situation, prebuilt PC manufacturers are now offering systems without preinstalled RAM as an alternative.
Paradox Customs Introduces RAM-Free Gaming PCs
The latest company to adopt this trend is Paradox Customs, a prebuilt PC manufacturer based in Arizona. The company announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it will offer gaming PCs without RAM installed. Paradox Customs has already updated its online configurator, allowing users to exclude RAM when customizing their systems. This option lets buyers save money by using existing memory from another PC or by purchasing it separately.
Each system is still tested to ensure full compatibility among components, even though the PC cannot operate without memory. This solution sits between two types of customers — those who like to build their own PC and those who prefer a fully assembled and ready-to-use system. However, less experienced users may prefer paying a bit more for a complete, ready-to-run setup to avoid compatibility or installation issues.
This approach doesn’t seem like a bad idea at all. Being the first to try this model, Paradox Customs could inspire other prebuilt PC manufacturers to offer similar “almost prebuilt” computers without RAM.
