Valve Redesigns Steam Game Pages with Larger Layouts and More Information
Valve has focused on offering software updates to perfectly adapt SteamOS for its flagship console, the Steam Deck. However, this hasn’t stopped Valve from also thinking about its large number of desktop users, who have been testing a new and improved page design for several months in beta. The new format expands page size and is now available to everyone, offering more information and higher-quality content for most titles in the Steam store.
Larger Pages with Better Multimedia Integration
The new pages for each game now have a wider layout, expanding from the previous 940 pixels to 1,200 pixels. This allows more screenshots and related content to be displayed, giving users additional visual details about each title. It also makes it easier to include multimedia elements, such as images and videos, in higher quality and resolution.
Another key update is a better navigation experience, which introduces three carousel modes — including fullscreen and cinema modes. These allow for higher-quality content and an improved aspect ratio, making it easier to enjoy visuals without losing detail.
To make the transition smoother, Valve has also introduced new tools that help developers easily adapt their games to this format. These tools provide more control over presentation and align with the redesigned Steam store, which now features enhanced search, recommendation, and display options for larger product pages.
Despite these changes, the new format remains compatible with other devices that use smaller screens, such as the Steam Deck and tablets. You can check out all the details and technical notes in the official announcement.
