VLC team has opened a kickstarter project so that they can raise a funding of £40,000 hopefully within 29 days.
VLC’s existing version runs on Windows 8 but only with Intel-Based systems. The new release, provided they get the required funding, will integrate a much better interface, provide support even in ARM processor powered tablets.
The team intends to add support for DVDs and VCDs out of the box- as well as support for unencrypted Blu- Rays, also adding a full fledged equalizer, video filters and superior subtitle support. They plan to have a fully-complaint app so that they can place their player in windows store so that they can get people to download their app anc consistently work on updating the experience.
Once the money is raised, they plan on finishing the project within 3 months. However, since its requires manpower, it will allow them to hire professional designers to clean and beautiful interface. To pledge for this project, you can do so over here.
