Tritton Warhead 7.1 Wireless Surround Headset Xbox 360 Review

So there we have it, the Warhead 7.1 headset from Tritton, a weapons grade headset that packs as big a punch as its name implies, and its that this point in the review where I’m certain you can tell I really like this headset. It is easily the best headset I have used on a console but a long way, not simply because its the best sounding headset I’ve used (even though it is), but its the way Tritton have implemented all the little features that has really won me over.

The wireless technology they have used for the headset is faultless, with hour after hour of gameplay I didn’t notice any signal loss, volume drops, crackles, pops or anything that tend to plague some wireless headsets. Couple this with the fact that after leaving them to charge for about an hour after first opening the box I was able to use a single battery for my tests without any power troubles, although even if I had run into issues the spare battery would by that point have been on charge for nearly a full day and be ready for a quick swap when needed.

All the buttons on the headset are really well located too, allowing me to tweak my EQ and volumes with ease, the most notable being the adjustment for the SVM, a feature that I wasn’t particularly a fan of on the Tritton Detonator, but it seems like everything else on the Warhead, it has been greatly improved and now sounds a lot more natural to use.

I guess now is the most important part to talk about, the price, I’m not blind to the fact that £200 is an awful lot of money for a headset, but I don’t think Tritton are either, this isn’t marketed to be for everyone, it’s pretty extreme both in its looks and performance and as such there will always be that part of the market that want the cutting edge looks and performance that a headset like this can offer. But if you do have the budget for this headset there is little out there that can come even close to this kind of specification, this headset is a real game changer, which is why I’m happy to award the Tritton Warhead 7.1 headset our Gamers Choice Award.
