Warner Bros. Games Will See the Return of Its Biggest Franchises in 2027 and 2028
JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, has said that Warner Bros. Games will bring back its biggest franchises in 2027 and 2028. The reference is most likely to Hogwarts Legacy and Batman.
Perrette explained during a meeting with investors that 2025 was a year of rebuilding for the division. He said the company had previously been distracted by chasing too many intellectual properties with too many studios involved.
He added that the real results of this new strategy will begin to appear in 2027 and 2028, when the company returns to some of its most important franchises. This timing also matches the launch of the new Harry Potter TV series, which could work well alongside a possible Hogwarts Legacy 2.
Major Franchises Set to Return
In the same way, the release of The Batman Part 2 in cinemas in 2027 could support the launch of a new Batman game from Rocksteady. When talking about Warner Bros.’ biggest franchises, the Dark Knight is clearly one of the most important.
Both Hogwarts Legacy and Batman are strong brands for the company, and their return could mark a new phase for Warner Bros. Games after a period of changes and restructuring.
At the same time, the company is preparing for a possible acquisition. Recent reports say that Paramount is close to acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery, while Netflix has stepped back after earlier interest.
This change could benefit Warner Bros. Games. Reports suggest that Netflix did not place much value on the gaming division, despite the strong sales of Hogwarts Legacy and the huge potential of the company’s well-known franchises.
More clarity about the future of Warner Bros. Games is expected in the coming years as these projects and business decisions move forward.
