WD announces two new My Passport portable hard drives for Mac

Western Digital, also more commonly known as WD, the pioneer in storage, has recently announced two new products that will please Apple’s ‘fan boys’; My Passport Studio and My Passport for Mac.

Both of these have been designed with one priority, blending in with the Apple products, in which they have succeeded, the metal casing being either black for the Studio, giving it a more professional look, or the silver aluminium for a more student look.

Just as the colour and name give it away, it’s easy to see that My Passport Studio is aimed at professionals on the move. With a maximum capacity of 1TB, this should be the perfect on-the-go companion from photographers to graphic artist.

Connection can be established by one USB 2.0 or two FireWire 800, providing multiple connectivity and fast transfer speeds, daisy chaining additional drives is easy and the ability to connected other peripherals as well should allow for more expendability.

Featuring an encryption and password protection software, not only will your data be kept safe from access, but the metallic scratch resistant casing will allow for both data protection, and ‘style preservation’.

Featuring the same durable and stylish exterior, this version is in silver, and is a favourite companion amongst students this time. Being light while still being a high capacity storage device, this is the perfect device to store multimedia files and data traveling outdoor.

Powered through a USB 2.0, no power plug is required, allowing for convenient and quick access to your saved files. Also available in a maximum capacity of 1TB, this device also combines practicality with style.

“Whether you are a member of the creative community or simply use your Mac to enjoy digital content on-the-go, users will find the perfect portable storage solution with WD’s My Passport Studio and My Passport for Mac high-capacity portable hard drives,” said Jim Welsh, executive vice president and general manager of WD’s branded products and consumer electronics groups. “We know the value our customers place on their digital content, which is why we set demanding requirements for durability, security, and long-term reliability, with all our drives.”

Both the My Passport Studio and My Passport for Mac are available on the WD store as well as the selected retailers and distributors.
