Western Digital Launches WD_Black SN8100 PCIe 5.0 SSD with 14.9 GB/s Speeds and 8TB Capacity
Western Digital, under its SanDisk brand, has officially launched the new WD_Black SN8100, a PCIe 5.0 SSD that promises read speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s.
Exceptional Performance and Capacity
With an impressive 8TB capacity, this model is designed for enthusiasts who demand speed, space, and reliability in their systems.
The SSD reaches sequential read speeds of up to 14,900 MB/s and write speeds of up to 13,200 MB/s, approaching the maximum potential of the PCIe 5.0 interface in the M.2 format.
It also delivers up to 2.2 million IOPS for random reads and 2.4 million for writes, making it an ideal solution for demanding workloads such as 4K/8K video editing, extreme gaming, and professional content creation environments.
The SN8100 is available in versions with or without a heatsink, allowing users to adapt it to different system configurations and cooling needs. Its power efficiency is also noteworthy, with a 7W power draw, which is lower than many competing PCIe 5.0 drives.
Durability and Reliability
In terms of endurance, the SSD offers a limited 5-year warranty and a 4,800 TBW rating, equivalent to rewriting its entire capacity around 600 times. This makes it a solid choice for users who need long-term reliability.
With this release, SanDisk not only expands its WD_Black product line but also strengthens its position as a leader in the high-performance storage market — offering capacities up to 8TB and speeds that push the limits of PCIe 5.0 technology.
