Final Thoughts

 Price

The price tag isn’t cheap at £149.99, but as far as I am concerned this is incredible value for money given that the previous In Win chassis we’ve seen make the 904 look budget friendly. Their Tao costs around £500-700, the H-Frame will set you back £250 and even their huge H-Frame King will set you back over £1000! So on the scale of things, this is a bargain, especially given the heavy use of expensive materials such as thick aluminium and tempered glass.

Overview

When compared to many other chassis in this price range, the In Win 904 is lacking in several major areas. Storage is limited to 5 drives, and only three of them can be 3.5″ drives, there is only one 5.25″ drive bays and it would be impractical to use that drive for a card reader or similar input device. Then we have space for just two fans, a 140mm and a 90mm, both of which are not included in the price. CPU cooler clearance high is limited and the radiator mounting solution isn’t as elegant as the rest of the chassis. And most importantly of all, I don’t care!

This chassis isn’t designed for high end gaming rigs, although I admit that with a little careful planning in regards to components and cooling, you could get a mighty rig in here. It’s like an executive desk toy, a treat for those that want their home office, or business computer to look like something special, to make a design statement that your typical black chassis cannot. Not all high end chassis have to have huge rad support and be tuned toward the gaming market. There are many users out there than don’t want a bleeding edge performance PC, but that doesn’t mean they want it to look like garbage. The In Win 904 offers people that option, something sleek and professional looking that is unlike any chassis before it.

I think it is a love or have product, but from the initial impressions we’ve had here at eTeknix, people general love the design, it is great to see something different and to see a company that isn’t afraid to use real glass as opposed to plastic windows on their chassis, the overall effect is spectacular and one that make me proud to award it our Innovation Award.

Pros

  • Unique design
  • Flawless construction
  • High quality finish and components
  • Price

Cons

  • Less storage that most chassis in this price range
  • CPU cooler hight limit
  • Air cooling limitations

“This chassis is far from perfect, it has many flaws that will no doubt put many off a potential purchase. However, I still think this is going to be a popular product simply because it is so unique, the flawless build quality and style set it apart from anything else on the market.”
