Windows 11

Windows 11 is on the way and presuming you haven’t had too many issues getting your motherboard set up with TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, you might well be looking forward to trying out Microsoft’s latest operating system. – Presuming you don’t like it, however, it seems that you’ve not got a lot of time to decide as following a report via CNET, it has been confirmed that once you upgrade to Windows 11, you’ll only have ten days in which to opt for a roll-back installation.

Windows 11 – Love It or Quickly Leave It!

While it has been confirmed that Windows 11 will come with the option for users to revert their operating system back to Windows 10, it does come with a pretty notable catch. Namely, that the moment you make the upgrade, the clock is ticking with you only having 10 days to decide whether you actually like Windows 11 or would prefer to revert back to your previous OS.

Put simply, it’s not a huge amount of time. It does, however, tie into a theory we’ve had for quite some time now!

What Do We Think?

Microsoft is going to be exceptionally keen to avoid the mistakes seen in the past when Windows 10 was originally launched. Despite adopting a rather aggressive upgrade strategy with it, many users simply refused to make the upgrade for several years leaving the overall market share and adoption rate for it surprisingly low. Even today, and 6 years on, Windows 10 has still failed to hit an 80% market share (when compared to other ‘active’ Microsoft operating systems).

So, in a nutshell, 10 days isn’t a huge amount of time, but this is pretty much what we expect the overall Windows 11 transitional experience to be like. Microsoft wants you on it, and once you’re there, we’re pretty certain that they’re not going to want you to go back!
