Windows 11 Insiders with Unsupported PCs Get Told to Reinstall 10

Windows 11

Following confirmation earlier this week that Windows 11 would be officially released (well, technically rolled out) on October 5th, there are many people who, thanks to the insider program, are already getting a hands-on look at what the new operating system will be bringing. Despite its rather terse requirements, however, it has already been found that, with a few exceptions, it is possible to uninstall it on technically unsupported systems. – Following a report via TechSpot though, if you are currently trying out Windows 11 on a bit of a potato PC, it seems that you are now being officially advised to revert your operating system back to Windows 10!

Windows 11 Start Getting Firm About Those Requirements!

While it would appear that reverting back to Windows 10 isn’t a mandatory requirement here, it does seem to confirm the recent news that if you choose to install the operating system on unsupported hardware, you will not be offered updates of any description. – Before everyone starts getting upset about this though, it should be noted that Microsoft themselves confirmed that this would be happening for Insider Users back in June.

What Do We Think?

The short version is that if your PC doesn’t support Windows 11, you can still install the operating system on it. Based on what Microsoft is saying, however, you get what you get and in terms of updates (both in terms of features and security), you’re pretty much on your own. With security representing a major upgrade aspect of this new operating system, therefore, if you’re not quite Windows 11 ready, the best advice does seem to be to remain with Windows 10 until either something changes (like upgrading to compatible hardware or Microsoft relaxing this stance) or until the support officially ends for it in 2025.

What do you think? Are you planning to update to Windows 11 or are you happier sticking with 10 for the time being? – Let us know in the comments!
