Windows 8.1 Reported To Break Stylus Functionality On Some Surface Pro Tablets

According to murmurings on the Microsoft community forums the Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 upgrade on first generation Surface Pro tablets is causing problems with the Wacom stylus pen, as if the huge problems experienced with the Windows 8.1 RT update weren’t enough.

The issue is with the Wacom stylus being totally unrecognised and it comes after installing the Windows 8.1 update, no universal workaround has been proposed so far. A Microsoft engineer has suggested a full power off and power on might fix the problem but for most this doesn’t seem to have worked.

Downloading the latest Wacom Stylus tablet drivers for Windows 8.1 (7.1.2-9) should fix the problem for most people but if it doesn’t then you’re advised to contact Microsoft’s support teams for further options.
