Windows 8 box art revealed

The official Windows 8 launch is edging ever nearer. For us consumers, the 26th of October is the date for the diary. We’ve seen a lot of changes in Windows 8 over the past few months as its moved through the developer preview, consumer preview through to the RTM stage. The “final copy” or RTM, has already been leaked to torrent sites but its likely that version will get a few minor tweaks before the final release. If you’re one of the consumers who intends to purchase a retail boxed copy of the new operating system from Microsoft, then you might be interested to have a sneak peek at the box art.

For the “retail versions” Microsoft plans to send only two to the shelves – Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro. Microsoft has decided to display the “Windows 8 style UI” logo at the front of the box (definitely not metro UI!) with the “better” version of Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, getting a darker colour scheme whilst the basic version is mainly white.

Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows RT will all be available on new PCs and tablets from October 26th, and upgrade versions will be available in stores or as an electronic software download.
