The specific launch date for consumers to take note of is October the 26th, this date was announced by Steven Sinofsky, president of Windows division at Microsoft, at the company’s annual sales meeting.

For those who have missed the developments with Windows 8, it will be the cheapest Microsoft operating system yet. Costing $39.99 to upgrade from an existing Windows operating system, as well as only coming in an OEM variety after Microsoft decided to scrap the more expensive retail variant of Windows.
