Windows Spring Creators Update Rumoured On The Way

User-made Patch Enables Windows 7/8.1 Updates for Kaby Lake and Ryzen Systems

Windows 10

Last year Windows 10 users received two major updates over the year. The creators update in aPRIL 2017 and the Fall Creators update which came in October. While there was, of course, minor incidental updates over the year, these represented the only occasions in which Windows 10 had undergone any dramatic changes that year.

Rumours are emerging, however, that the scale of the next update is so large that is may even be called the Spring Creators Update.

Creators Update

It is difficult to describe exactly what the creator’s updates are. They are not just fixes and improvements, they often include new software. For example, creators updates have seen the inclusion of Paint 3D.

I suppose, utilising a term Microsoft no longer uses, these updates could be considered service pack releases.

The purpose of creators updates

Generally speaking, they follow the lines of service pack updates. They include everything updates to that specific point. The only real difference is that, as above, creators updates usually include new software for the operating system.

In a report via onmsft, it would seem that the next planned update has seemingly grown so substantial that it might even be declared, formally, the Spring Creators Update.

Is it possible?

It certainly is and generally speaking, the updates for Windows 10, so far, have generally been good and problem free. There are of course always some exceptions.

Given the name, if it does come, we shouldn’t expect to get it until around March/April, but if it is on the way, a more formal announcement should be expected within the next month.

This only leaves us with the Summer and Winter Creators updates to go I guess.

What do you think? Is a Spring Creators Update likely? Is this just the rumour mill at work? – Let us know in the comments!

Will this trash my pc like the fall creators update? Killing off my nicely laid out start menu, resetting every setting on my pc back to default, such as all the monitoring settings I carefully selected NO, just like everyone, hate the new format, just have to reinstall again I guess.

Yeah… unlike SP of old Windows, every new W10 XYZ Update bring nothing but dread and terror.

I have deployed multiple SP over the years on PCs I was running or managing in one way or another. Never, a single time I had to deal with catastrophic failure to start the system from botched SP. W10 is exact opposite. Every major (or even trivial) update has major destructive potential. With latest TR build I was waiting till end of October so I wouldn’t have to deal with re-installing everything week after installing the system. As it turns out it was great idea. 1709 installed, WU & lots of junk disabled/un-installed … everything works.

With this new Crap Update coming I expect the worst (few re-enabled options are least of my concerns). If it will remove again some of my software, that’s it. My last day of using WU ever.
