Xbox App Now Available on Windows 11 ARM PCs, 85% of Game Pass Library Is Compatible
Microsoft has announced that the Xbox app is now officially available for Windows 11 devices based on ARM architecture. This update allows a growing range of lightweight laptops and tablets to access most of the Xbox PC catalog.
The arrival of the app on ARM marks a major step in Microsoft’s strategy to make Windows on ARM a truly competitive platform. The goal is to transform even thin, quiet, and energy-efficient laptops into capable gaming machines. Over recent years, ARM-based devices have become increasingly popular for their lower power consumption, slim design, and improved performance. Microsoft’s move shows its intention to make this segment a key part of the Windows ecosystem.
85% of Game Pass Games Already Compatible
According to Microsoft’s official statement, over 85% of the Game Pass catalog now works on Windows 11 ARM PCs. That percentage is expected to grow as developers continue to optimize their games for the platform. For titles that don’t yet have native ARM support, the Xbox app still allows users to play them through Xbox Cloud Gaming, ensuring full access to the catalog.
This means that gamers using ARM-based devices can enjoy nearly the same experience as those on traditional x86 systems, with cloud gaming filling any remaining gaps.
“Windows and Xbox continue to collaborate across the gaming community, OEMs, silicon innovators and game studios to expand catalog compatibility and deliver a consistently great Windows gaming experience—whether you’re on a powerful desktop, a purpose‑built handheld, or an Arm‑based Windows 11 laptop,” explained Brynnan Fink, Principal Program Manager for Windows Silicon and System Integration, and Nicole Allen, Senior Director of Xbox Next Generation, in a blog post.
They concluded: “Our focus remains on improving compatibility, enhancing performance and delivering experiences that make it easy to jump in and play. Every update we deliver and every title we bring to Arm-based Windows 11 PCs is shaped by what we hear from players. We’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to bringing even more improvements, features and games to players everywhere in the coming year.”
