Xbox CEO Confirms She Uses a Shared Family Account
When Asha Sharma introduced herself to the world as the new CEO of Xbox, she also revealed her gamertag, allowing everyone to see details such as the games that had been launched on the account. However, many people found her profile unusual.
The executive has now clarified that the account is actually shared within her family, and not all the games shown were played by her personally.
Questions About Her Gaming Background
Sharma joined Microsoft in 2024 and led the CoreAI division before being promoted to CEO of Xbox. Previously, she worked at Home Depot, Meta, and Instacart. For many observers, she does not have strong experience in the video game industry, especially when compared to former CEO Phil Spencer, who is well known for being a passionate gamer.
This difference led to criticism and, in some cases, a lack of trust from gaming fans toward Sharma.
Sharma responded by saying that she is not faking her gaming career, even though the account is shared. She explained that her goal is not to be seen as the best gamer, but to understand the gaming world as well as possible in order to lead Xbox effectively.
She also stated that her focus is on improving the Xbox ecosystem, rather than playing a large number of games. Finally, Sharma confirmed that she personally replies to users on social media and does not use AI to write her messages.
In other news, CEO Asha Sharma and Chief Content Officer Matt Booty have clarified that Xbox development teams are under no obligation to use artificial intelligence.
