Xbox One and PS4 Consoles Hit Shortages!

While the overall stock situation does, on the whole, seem to be improving over recent weeks, it’s still no secret that getting hold of a PS5 or Xbox Series X remains more than a little difficult. Possible? Yes, but only if you’re willing to sink the time into patiently waiting for stores to confirm their latest influx of next-gen consoles. And even then, they can be sold out within literally the blink of an eye. Following a report via TechPowerUp, however, fresh reports are claiming that while those new systems might be hard enough to get your hands on, it appears that stock for both the last-gen Xbox One and PS4 has also started to dry out!

Last-Gen Consoles in Stock Crisis?

While the Xbox Series X and PS5 have been stealing pretty much all the headlines since late last year, more and more retail reports are starting to confirm that stock levels for last-gen consoles are also starting to get a bit thin on the ground. While this is entirely understandable given that both Sony and Microsoft will clearly be placing greater priority on their new systems, it’s going to be something of an absolute stinker if both current and last-gen consoles are in such limited supply that gaming consumers might literally only have the Nintendo Switch as a viable, and more importantly available, alternative.

What Do We Think?

With the report already claiming that 2nd-hand prices for last-gen consoles have started to creep up, we would suggest some caution if you expect your 6-year-old PS4 to be worth £400 second-hand in the coming months. With Christmas looming, however, if all of these consoles’ stock levels don’t improve, then it’s going to be a pretty rough December for Father Christmas.

If you have, however, been considering trying out a last-gen console such as the PS4 or Xbox One, perhaps as something of a distraction while you attempt without success to get a PS5 or Xbox Series X, you might want to act quickly as its entirely possible that by the end of next month, they’ll be notably more expensive than they are right now!
